Grapes that produce quality
In the heart of the Upper Galilee, on the western foothills of Mount Meron, at an altitude of 840 to 890 meters; Yosef Sayada, scion to a family of farmers, planted vineyards serving LUERIA winery, which spread over approximately 250 dunams.
The unique character of Yosef’s vineyard is expressed in the rare combination of soil, consisting of layers of basalt, terra rossa and limestone found in the soil composition. Soil structure, high altitude, well-drained aerated soil, the unique climate of the region, advanced irrigation technology, and home-made organic compost, create excellent conditions for growing quality wine grapes.
Yosef Sayada dedicates his full efforts every day to extract the best quality from the vineyard. Many local wineries seek-out grapes harvested from Yosef’s vineyard, to complete their high-quality and prestigious wine labels. The quality of the grapes from Yosef’s vineyard is well-known, and every year wines produced from Yosef’s vineyard’s win praise and awards.
From grape grower to quality wine producer
A dream that became reality
The unique quality of Yosef Sayada’s vineyard gained widespread recognition among Israeli vintners and wine makers in the wine industry, giving rise to the idea of establishing a family winery. Gidi Sayada, son of a grape farmer, learned the love of the land from his father as a child, and began his studies in winemaking as soon as he was discharged from military service. Gidi is responsible for managing the winery and wine production, from the moment of harvest through the oak barrel maturation process. Serving Lueria winery, Yosef Sayada’s vineyards expand over 280 dunam, producing 12 different wines from the best vineyard sections each year.
Yosef Sayada, an artisan-farmer, descendant of a farming family from Tunisia, learned the nature of the soil over many years of experience growing fruit orchards. Although Yosef’s fruit orchards were known to all for their special taste, Yosef felt that in order to fully actualize the purpose of the land, he had to plant vineyards on it.
